Topic Nine – E-Business Implementation Issues
Introduction
-
The key question here is where does strategy (planning) finish and
implementation begin?
-
Implementation allows us to implement a blueprint for the e-business
-
There are three things that are essential in order for an e-business
initiative to succeed:
a)
integration
b)
transformation
c)
convergence
E-Business BluePrint Creation
- The main question here will be:
** How much of the old system (legacy) do we keep?
- A fundamental question that is also asked initially is:
** What level of investment do we make in new systems over old?
- Considering this we must think about the cost of NOT changing to a new
system also.
- If the existing systems can meet the requirements of the business design,
then they are to be retained, if not, modified or replaced.
Leadership
All levels of management should be involved in the e-business project.
Ultimately, the CEO, MD or President has the responsibility for developing a
blueprint.
But there must be a key person to champion the process.
Then the implementation begins:
a)
migrate strategy to a blueprint
b)
Robustly test blueprint against organization
c)
Improvement process
E-Business Blueprint Planning
